Hastinapur Wildlife Sanctuary
Hastinapur Wildlife Sanctuary is a large protected wildlife area established in 1986 that spans parts of Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bijnor, Hapur, Amroha and Muzaffarnagar districts. It lies along the banks of the Ganges River and conserves a mix of grasslands, forests, wetlands, and riverine ecosystems. The sanctuary is known for its diverse flora and fauna, including species like swamp deer (state animal), deer, wild boar, numerous birds, reptiles, and aquatic life such as gharials and turtles. It also forms part of important migratory bird routes.
